How to Create Change #1: Take Inventory

Author: Don Scott October 07, 2025

Hello <>,

Life is good. You’ve already created success. But what about the places that aren’t working? Maybe someone or something in your business or life is under-performing. Maybe in some areas that “someone” is you.

Does much of your thinking spin on problems, stresses, family, a challenging relationship, worries, workload, or not having enough time? The things that drain your energy.

How long have those been hanging around? Have you given up, or are you still fighting the fight?
  • Giving up becomes avoidance, procrastination, and toleration.
  • Fighting on without change just leaves you exhausted.

When I sit with people they always have parts of life and business that just aren’t working. We pull those out and look at them in the light of day. Many are critically important—and changing them has been long deferred or even forsaken.

So, what do you do about it? I’ll answer with a statement and a question:
  • First, really take in what I’ve just said here.
  • Then ask yourself: What do I want to do about it?
Take Inventory
Do This: Take inventory. Find a quiet, comfortable place and do this like it matters—because it does. Grab a pad and draw a vertical line down the middle. On the left side, write “Things that are working for me.” On the right side, write “Things I need to change.” Not fancy. It’s the place to start.

See you next week, where we’ll build on this theme.
